The King: Eternal Monarch | Review

The most loved and most talked about Korean show, THE KING: ETERNAL MONARCH which stars Lee Min-ho and Kim Gon-eun has recently ended. The last episode was aired on June 6, 2020. The show which started on April 17, 2020 has recently ended and the fans seems to be upset about it.
This show gained a worldwide recognition because of the plot story and the successful actors in the show. The show consists of various successful Korean actors who made their life time recognition through this show. This was written by Kim Eun-Sook, who also wrote THE HEIRS, THE GUARDIAN: LONELY AND GREAT GOD, DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN and SECRET GARDEN which are popular K-Drama shows watched throughout the globe.
The show is a combination of Drama, Romance and Fantasy. This show was streamed on SBS TV and on NETFLIX. According to IMDb the show has a rating of 8.5 stars out of 10. Though Netflix is the most used OTT platform for the audience, this show has been at the No. 2 position on NETFLIX ORIGINALS. At first Korean people gave the show low rating but it gained popularity after it was watched by people in other countries.
Me as a K-drama fan also watched this nail biting show. At first I couldn’t understand and started writing the characters in the note but after watching the whole episodes patiently one by one I could understand the show more and more.

The show is about an Emperor of a fictional kingdom who sets out on a journey to a parallel world which is opened by the enemy. And he must stop him play with time, close the gate to the other world and find the lady on the ID card he got hold off.
The first episode of the show was intimidating, mysterious and confusing. But I managed to get along with the episode to know more about the upcoming events in the episode. The first episode enfolds the introduction of the enemy LEE LIM who murdered the former king of KINGDOM OF COREA and planned to steal the ‘Ancient Flute’. Lee Min-ho who plays the next in line emperor LEE GON witnesses the death of his father when he was only 8yrs old and was also about to get murdered by the enemy but an unknown person saved him in the last minute and an ID card came to the hands of the little boy which belonged the unknown person which had the details of a young lady of the police agency. After killing the former king the enemy ran away with one of the halves of the ‘Ancient Flute’ (which had broken in two halves, the other half was with the young boy….you will get to know in the show) which opens the door to the other world of REPUBLIC OF KOREA which is actually a parallel universe.
The plot is relatively out of the world. You must be thinking what am I talking about but you will surely be surprised if you watch the show yourself. I am not going to write the whole episodic analysis because it will be a spoiler if you haven’t watched and those who have already watched it can know what I am talking about. This show primarily consists of 16 episodes which are of 70 minutes each.
Every episode of this show is intriguing and it kept me thinking what will happen next. While this might be a turnoff for some, but I realized this is the charm of this show. You’ll keep guessing what will happen next and the next thing you know it becomes a habit to watch the next episode. I liked the cinematography of the show which made me amused to watch the scenes. Considering the fact that Korean masterpieces are now setting up a mark in the international space.
Many fans had pointed out about the flaws of this show but the non watchers would love it once they start watching. The chemistry between the lead pairs was also nice.
As per the show it shows about parallel universe which also consists of character counterparts which gave the show confusing analysis, but the notes I made throughout the episodes helped me a lot.

Lee Min-ho portrayed the role of the Emperor Lee Gon which suits him very well and he proves that his name comes with an expected powerful performance every time. On top of that he is the most loved ‘Oppas’ because of the heart fluttering romantic and emotional scenes with his leading lady.

Kim Go-eun who portrays every roles of her differently has never disappointed as an actress here, she plays the role of Lieutenant Jeong Tae-eul /Luna. Her versatility has brought her to the spotlight.
The male antagonist played by award winning actor Lee Jung-jin and female antagonist Jung Eun-chae who had their characters as weak persona which is also a great addition in the show.
Aside from this two lead, the ultimate charmer of this show was none other than Woo Do-hwan with his amazing performance. He’s definitely a show stealer and anyone will agree with me. You could instantly fall in love with him.

If you haven’t watched the show yet I would recommend you all to watch this show and you’ll probably have many questions after watching each episode. And don’t get confused you will understand the show slowly and every episode every plotline of the story will make sense as you reach the end of the show. I actually love shows which has a cliffhanger at end which will increase the curiosity in your minds. And therefore you will love to enjoy the show more and more.

Do leave a comment if you loved the show and my review for the show. And also mention if you want reviews for any other show.

Hospital Playlist | Review | SpillBoard

Korean dramas currently are at the apex of their industry. Encroaching upon new grounds, these captivating series have made its way to the U.S., mostly through Netflix. I personally love numerous Korean dramas on Netflix as well; from the recent “Crash Landing on You” to “Love Alarm” back in 2017, I’ve watched a handful of dramas to call myself a fan. Recently, I’ve been watching one that took a quite different approach to its story plot: “Hospital Playlist.” Released in March 2020, “Hospital Playlist” made its way to being one of the most-watched Korean dramas in South Korea. Just in the first episode, we are introduced to five friends who knew each other since the start of medical school. As a Korean medical school consists of 6-years, including college and medical school, they practically have known each other for almost 20-years. Kim Joon-Wan (played by Jung Kyoung-Ho), a cardiothoracic surgeon, is caring to the patients and his friends while insensitive to the residents. Ch
